Through wales to the coast

What a wonderful day, starting with a massive breakfast and then  this amazing rose which was growing outside our b and b in Shrewsbury.
Then a lunch stop at Welshpool, home of my grandmother until she moved south to Brighton. Pretty town on Montgomery canal. Great lunch spot - so tranquil.

If anyone would like to join me next year , I would be keen to hire a canal boat, preferably in France, though this also looked lovely.

From lush green pastures , woods and hills to the estuary. Ever- changing scenery. Absolutely beautiful.

Not easy to get good shots from dirty train windows. Sorry 😐

One of our stops -  language lesson for the day 😄great place names.

Out to the coast where temperatures soared

Believe it or not it was 35  degrees in the sun. Sweltering, no wind to cool us off.

On the one side the sea and the other the first glimpses of the foothills of Snowdonia with picturesque farms and fields with their fantastic stone fences. Really gorgeous.
Final destination Harlech, with its World Heritage castle 300 metres above sea level. Fabulous first glimpse from the station.

I love the sign too.

My sister had thought Harlech would be a thriving tourist destination, but this is not the case. Only onr restaurant open and loads of houses for sale. Luckily our b and b owners kindly picked us up as we found out that our fabulous accommodation was also 300 metres up, 5 minutes from the castle. I don't think we could have managed the walk up in the searing heat. However, Our band b is perfect , super room, great garden, peaceful and with magnificent views of castle and sea.

What a stunning view of the castle with Snowdonia behind, and the sunset over the sea was breathtaking.

We ate our take away Indian meal in the garden . Delicious food, setting sun and perfect temperatures and the evening bird song. Forgot, bottle of sauvignon blanc too.

Cheers
