Spa Bottom

How fantastic to have a barbecue with my neices, nephew and their families before heading north. Most people would probably not have opted to sit outside and barbecue, but being true Brits, we were  not deterred by cooler temperatures and overcast skies. Laughter, Pimms and delicious grub - perfect combination.

Here I am now in - guess where !

I just love the names around here - Slant Gate, Hag Hill Lane and Spa Bottom ( where I am staying) to name but a few. I changed plans from York to Huddersfield after an invitation from Joy, my Italian school friend. Great to see her and meet her hubby Phil. Beautiful home and a brilliant trip today to nearby Yorkshire Sculpture Park, a magnificent park with remarkable sculptures. The absolutely massive  one below by  Kaws

The one above shows an exhibit by Swiss sculptor Not Vital. He is even from Sent in the Engadine, so there were many mentions of the region I love so much. The picture above , Let 100 flowers bloom, is really impressive, the closed buds of the lotus flower representing repression of free speech.

My favourite was the above by Henry Moore, of this  larger than me lady ๐Ÿ˜„ who sits overlooking this huge park with its beautiful lakes, woods and gardens.

Next stop another trip into the past, Edinburgh,  where I worked when I was 19 . See you there !
