to see old familiar places, to travel down those wonderful leafy lanes, through avenues of lush green trees, to see Box Hill once again where Jim and I did so much walking together, to pass the picturesque Surrey villages with their village greens and gorgeous pubs and later to spend time in the beautiful churchyard where Mum And Dad are buried. So peaceful and lovely there.
Then the bells began to ring for evening song service as we wandered through this historical graveyard and i cast my mind back to the day Jim and I married here in 1977 , in torrential rain, yet still had a fantastic day, and the day I stood 15 years ago , at the same church door where we had posed for wedding photos, at my mother ' s funeral. Although no longer 'home', the attachment is still and will surely remain strong. I feel a calmness and happiness just being in my old haunts.
How lucky we were to grow up in such a beautiful area . It is really a pity that we often only fully appreciate our school and surroundings later on.
My school buddies , Di and Nicky ( my doubles partner for so many years) are organising my 3 days here. Sounds amazing what they have in store.
As I write this we are sitting hoping that the drizzle will stop and we can watch some tennis at Queens. If we are lucky, we should see my Swiss favourite, Stan, playing doubles against Jamie Murray. Hopefully will be good π
We are stillhaving fun and enjoying the delicious strawberries offered by the very elite club.
Unfortunately play started and finished 5 minutes later. With a delay for an hour due to rain, we reverted to Pimms π
Sadly, we only watched 30 mins of play because od the many rain delays but nevertheless it was a fun day, as can be seen from the photos.
