Luckily out of season or it would be horrendousi I imagine. Beaches are semi deserted now and the roads very pleasant to drive on. The kilometres of unspoilt countryside, clean villages and towns, pristine beaches , generally very friendly people make for a perfect holiday, added to that we have been very lucky with the weather.
Yesterday was our introduction to the coastline at Perros Guerec.
And we stayed in Painpol, a fairly vibrant little town. It was also really great to hear and practiae some French. Most visitors herre seem to be French speaking and i really feel as if I am inFrance.
The above picture was the view from our simple yet comfortable hotel. We had an amazing meal just across the harbour. Delicious pate, then fish and followed by sugar and lemon crepe. Great local specialities.
Luckily we were recommended the Roche de Jagu, a castle with hectares of magnificent gardens and i have to say it was one of the most beautiful places I havw ever visited.
It was a day where all the senses were spoilt. My pictures sadly cannot start to give you sn idea of the freshness in the air, the sound of the many birds serenading us as we walked through the verdant forests, the bees busily buzzing around us, feasting on the thousanda of flowers with their fragrant scents and incredible colours ,hundreds of different camelias - simply breathtaking. Add to that grounds which offerred such a variety of vegetation, with spectacular views down the valley. At every corner something new to wonder at, either natural or manmade. The irrigation techniques were superb as were the fences made mostly of willow.
We covered quite a lot of kilometres and twice descended to the valley and then climbed again. Pretty exhausting I must admit. Pleased to reach the top we were treated to exceptional views . The. Sight of a mass of whote blossom was sensational. I have rarely seen such a sight.
The rest of the day has been equally fantastic with so many sights around this exceptional coast. Below a rather magnificent lunch spot!
And now the most has rolled in
We have reached Roscoff . Another delicious meal of fiah at small, friendly and reasonably priced restaurant. We hope that the thick mist envelopping the town will lift for our trip to the Ile de Batz tomorrow.
Good night.
