Douarnenez is a fishing town, particularly famous for its sardines along with other fish. I tried the sardines last night as a main, plus various seafood terrines as starter and i can recommend them. 15 euros for a delicious 3 course meal can't be bad !
Douarnenez is also extremely pretty with its huge port, picturesque and colourful houses and restaurants, and sweeping sandy bays and beaches.
They reminded me of NZ beaches - beautiful warm and sunny day and almost nobody around. Perfect!
The beach you can see above is quite different from the white sandy beaches on the other side of the town. They were simply dazzling but somehow not so interesting. We walked parts of the coastal track - superb views and mix of exposed cliff walking and dense lush vegetation. Really special.
We also came across a charming little group of cottages dating back centuries. A marvelous end to our walks.
This morning we also visited two markets. So much sea food, plus artichokes from Roscoff where we were a few days ago and pastries from the region. They haven't appealed to me yet, thankfully.
Tomorrow on round the coast for a couple of days 😊
