Saas Fee Switzerland

With just one more day pass left, I fulfilled a longterm desire to visit Saas Fee , and luckily Irene and Nik came too. We have all seen lots of Switzerland, but none of us had been there before, and all of us will go back, for sure! It was magnificent in every way, as can be seen from our views from our picnic spot. The many peaks surrounding us, many over 4000m were awesome and the area is a popular area for summer skiing. With binoculars we could  see quite a number of skiers up on the glacier.
The next photo shows the area we were in as seen from the valley below. I imagine in a couple of weeks it will be even prettier when all the larches turn gold!

All around us were glaciers, presumably once massive, but nonetheless still breathtakingly beautiful. For people much less scared of heights than I am, there is a large hut perched on top of one of the peaks to the left. What a view!

All ages are catered for. I loved this trotinett with such gorgeous glaciers behind it!

Down in the valley I  reached the river and enjoyed a completely different yet just as beautiful environment.

The town of Saas Fee is a wonderful mixture of old and new, the new being built to fit in with the old and the landscape. It was  lovely to see the beautiful old storage houses, propped up on piles with huge round stones on top of them to keep the animals out.

It was a fabulous day and although it was an early start and longish trip, it was really worth every minute of it.
