Doolin to Kilkenny

It was a pity to leave such a wonderful area, but we needed to keep moving. I think in general we had allowed the right amount of time in each place considering our limited time available.
We decided to take the back roads rather than the motorway to Kilkenny and it was great because we ended up at lunchtime at the pretty little village of Kilaloe on a Lough Derg. It was very different landscape, seeming more like the rolling hills of Southern England. We decided to take a one- hour boat trip to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and enjoy idyllic weather! Incredible. Here we are in Ireland with near cloudless skies, no wind and temperatures in their twenties.

Next stop Kilkenny, once the medieval capital of Ireland and with wonderful green post boxes!

Not to mention its very impressive 12 th century castle set in massive parklands and with its magnificent rose gardens. It's a pity I can't put the fabulous scents of the roses on my blog. I am sure in future that this will be possible!

The area near the fantastic playground was just a mass of daisies and buttercups. It was heavenly.

We took things quite easy because it was so warm . We spent a really wonderful few hours on the terrace in the photo below, by the River Nore by John's bridge, watching the local kids jumping from the bridge into the evidently  refreshing waters some metres below.

After dinner I had a great evening of Irish music in a nice cool bar, sharing a table with Texans, Greeks and Irish. Marvelous night!
